Our
Mission

The mission of Valor is to drive a culture shift towards STEM programs and introduce the next generation of critical thinkers, innovators, and inventors.

Valor is a 9th-12th grade high school program consisting of 30 students, 43% of which are girls. Our mission is to demand more STEM opportunities for young students in their high school and post-high school careers and to encourage a culture that ultimately values STEM.

Our in-school robotics classes and agile development processes develop critical thinkers and problem solvers. We reach out to our local Austin community with events and summer camps to interest and inspire the community to want to be involved in STEM programs.

Our
Initiatives

DEVELOP CRITICAL THINKERS AND PROBLEM SOLVERS

From sub-team organization to machine learning, we strive every day to constantly learn and improve ourselves to better our community and get ready for industry standards. By developing ourselves into critical thinkers and problem solvers, we set ourselves up to sustain our team through community engagement and expand STEM to underserved and underrepresented populations.

GUARANTEERING  OUR TEAM'S SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We hope to sustain Valor through community outreach events, including participating in the LEEF Mudstacle for two straight years and introducing FIRST to young students at the River Ridge Elementary STEM Night. By exposing younger students to FIRST, we strive to set them up for success in their desired STEM field. We also hope to keep our team sustainable by inspiring students to join FIRST at a young age and continue to the FRC program in high school. Once we guarantee team sustainability, Valor can continue to expand STEM to underserved and underrepresented populations.

EXPANDING STEM EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Valor aspires to make STEM universal. Through participating in events such as SACOT and NAC, we advocate to create opportunities for all students in STEM and integrate STEM into education at a national level. Once we expand STEM to underserved and underrepresented populations, we can ultimately achieve our mission to demand more STEM opportunities for young students within their high school and post-high school careers and encourage a culture that values STEM. 2+2=4
